Winnetka Wonderful

Image

I recently was in another wedding of a very close friend in the beautiful town of Winnetka, Illinois. It oozes the charm and ambience you would expect of a small town. Lovely, well-appointed homes with lush landscaping and a quaint town center. On the north shore of Chicago, small towns line up to create an enchanting summer backdrop for a lovely wedding in a wonderful town. I hope you find these photos timeless and inspiring.

Spring Shower

Last Friday night called for showers in Dallas, but the most beautiful one happened on Saturday in honor of a wonderful and dear friend, Caroline. The setting was my favorite restaurant, Le Bilboquet, a restaurant I have frequented with her many a time. The side terrace with a boxwood wall and bistro chairs make for the ideal backdrop for any event. Beautiful flower arrangements in some of my favorite blue and white pots framed the tables. Gorgeous blue and white monogrammed napkins were my gift to the bride, and they tie in perfectly to go with the bride’s future china pattern.

Favors included votive size candles that were placed next to place cards created by my self-taught and incredibly talented friend, Margaret Moore. Her writing is incredible!! Overall, it was the ideal setting for a shower full of Rosé, french fries, good friends, and lots of laughter (and even a few tears)!

Enjoy these pictures of the festive and fun bridal shower!

Summer Showers

I’ve recently taken part in helping to host two different bridal showers for two of my closest friends. One was a carefree backyard shower with a preppy pineapple twist. The other was a more modern and sophisticated soiree. While I had more of a planning hand in the later shower, both were ideal for the two different brides. I find there is something so personal about planning showers. You can really capture the bride in small and thoughtful details. I think it shows a great display of love that a registry gift can’t quite capture. Cheers to #WynneTwoBleComeOne and#AlaviYouForever XO

Grange Hall was the ideal spot for this bride. If you are in the Dallas area, you must come for lunch, or to see their beautiful gift store. Modern Bridal Shower by The Potted Boxwood 5

The florist is very creative here at Grange Hall. I knew I wanted to contrast of all white flowers and to play off of the marble inspired plates that they use. You would never know that those glass vases are painted on the outside. So chic!  Modern Bridal Shower by The Potted Boxwood 4

Alli K Design did an overwhelmingly fantastic job with the place cards. Her modern calligraphy is used from something as small as this, to something as important as wedding invitations.  It fits the atmosphere beautifully. Modern Bridal Shower by The Potted Boxwood 8

The piéce de résistance….Frosted Art Bakery captured my vision in the most spectacular way. They even took the monogram of the napkin and used it as the topper for the cake. It was just as delicious as it was beautiful. Grange Hall added the flowers for a bridal touch.  Modern Bridal Shower by The Potted Boxwood 10

LB Originals did such an incredible job helping me pick a more modern and unique monogram for my very Jan Showers inspired bride. I decided to go with a dark grey and white color pattern to compliment the marble.

Leaping Ahead

Happy Leap Day! I think it is pretty amazing that today is a day that only occurs every four years. I recently read that in Ireland, Leap Day is referred to as Bachelor’s Day. The day is a traditional holiday when women propose to men. At this point, maybe that is the route I should take (KIDDING). In all seriousness, this past weekend was a perfect celebration of upcoming weddings and celebrations. One of my friends was in town to watch her bridesmaids try on dresses; another friend asked some of us to be bridesmaids and then tried on wedding dresses herself; and later that evening, another friend got engaged! This doesn’t even include a wedding coming up this April, and another close friend getting married next year!! Phew! At least I can always hem the dresses and wear them again…hehe

In honor of my beautiful friends and what will surely be phenomenal nights to remember, I thought I would roundup some of my favorite wedding inspirations. I can hear the bells already, and I will be there with bells on!  XO

Simply Sophisticated Shower

Don’t you love when you work on something over a period of time and it all comes together seamlessly?! This weekend was one of those weekends. Over the summer, I decided I wanted to throw a hometown shower for one my oldest and dearest friends, Anne Marie. We have such a long history together with our families, that it only felt fitting to throw her a party to remember. I knew it had to reflect her vibrant and colorful style. She has a Kate Spade decorum that  truly embodies her vivacious and bold personality. If you truly know someone well, it is easy to find the perfect palette to celebrate them.

The shower was held at The Birchwood Hotel in our hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida. I was having lunch there with my mom and grandmother this summer, when we looked out at the boxwood walled courtyard and knew immediately that it was the perfect place for the luncheon. I teamed up with Anne Marie’s Maid of Honor, and together we worked back and forth to make this a truly special Saturday in January. We decided to go for black and white stripes mixed with pops of pink and gold. It had such a fun and flirty feel. Everyone felt right at ease in this enchanting courtyard setting, with the effortless excitement of constantly passed mimosas and always flowing Chardonnay.

I have always been a big believer that if you are going to do something, do it right. No one likes a boring party, and a bridal luncheon is hopefully a once in a lifetime party! It is a great way to celebrate a friendship, a bride, and an upcoming marriage that is surely one for the story books. #OnceUponATimm

Boxwood Garden Walls for Luncheon

Walls of boxwood make the ideal backdrop for any party! I knew the gold chivari chairs were a necessity for this intimate courtyard space.

I came across this Kate Spade tray that has “Fancy Another ?” written on the inside. We used some of the extra party favors of personalized champagne bottles in the background.

The bride! Could she be more Town & Country worthy in this moment. Playful, preppy, and totally embracing this feminine moment to shine as the bride to be!

Tables Setting for Bridal Luncheon

Black White Pink and old Tablescape

Do you love the napkins!?! I mean how can you not!  They allow for any party to become personal. I knew I wanted these to be my gift to the bride, so I didn’t hesitate to contact my favorite monogram instagram friend LB Originals. She did a superb job creating a 4 letter monogram!!! The best!!

Bridal Shower Game Idea

The present table was shared with the game table. That glittered gold fish bowl was created by the Maid of Honor to house everyone’s favorite memory of the bride. It also makes a huge difference to frame any game instructions. Much more polished and put together!

Bridal Shower Cake from Sweet Divas Bakery

The cake was simple, yet detailed with fresh roses and gold foil dots. Sweet Divas Chocolates absolutely blew away every guest’s tastebuds with this vanilla and fresh strawberry cake. Sadly, I only had a bite of my friend’s cake in the chaos of the party. My biggest regret of the day!

Bridal Shower Games

These notecards were another great find by the Maid of Honor. She had guests write down their favorite Date Night ideas and Words of Wisdom. These were then put into a photo album and given to the Bride at the end of the event.

Bridal Shower Menu from Etsy

I insisted on printing my own menus for the party. I found this great template by Grace Designs on Etsy. The header was ideal for my theme. I was able to download the menu straight into Word and play with the other fonts and colors on the menu. A Kate Spade Bride
