Thankful Tables

I am down to just a handful of boxes, but otherwise my new place is starting to feel like home. It took traveling out of town for Thanksgiving yesterday to make me actually realize that it is Thanksgiving! How? I don’t know. I have been so buried in boxes and masking tape, that it took the  occasional instagram stroll to get a shot of inspiration for Thanksgiving tablescapes. I feel each year everyone finds ways to make their tablescape more creative, more aesthetically oriented, and even more chic! Right now, I am taking a breath and leaving the tablescaping to family. Here are just a few of my favorites that I love from this week and always. Now, back to family time….

One last thing, I am SO thankful for all of you!

It will be here before you know it. The tree will come up, the garland will be added, the lights will be lit, the presents will be open, the chaos will be here very soon. It is a shame that a time that calls for great joy and rejoicing makes us all crazy and frantic. Well, not to worry friends, I am here to help. I even did a little research, calling upon some of my very close friends to tell me their favorite purchases of the season. This is basically a glorified list of everything I want (family take note)  and everything I have. This list could very easily be endless….. I am sure I will have follow up posts in the weeks ahead. Honestly, it would be 500 pages if I didn’t cut it off somewhere. As always, look at last years gift guide for some inspiration as well!

Today, I am featuring all things for her and for the home. Each day this week I will be showcasing fabulous gifts for a certain person (or pup) on your list. Happy Shopping!!

Speaking of essential oils, I  may have become a bit obsessed. I heard about these from a friend who then told me all about the amazing benefits of essential oils. Instantly, I sleep better with a mix of the lavender and R.C. oil. I must tell you, the lavender is a true french lavender. I infuse lemon and tangerine in my water for energy, as well as a multitude of other benefits. Young Living are the only type of essential oils to buy, since they are in the purest form and have a very admirable reputation.

Horchow is having a monogram sale! I have had lots of sheets by lots of different brands. I really love Charisma. They wash beautifully and get softer with age.

City of Light

If you were able to go on with the weekend in a per-usual fashion, I envy you. As soon as I heard the news break on Friday afternoon about the evil and horrifying attacks in Paris, I felt a knot in my stomach. Dinner cancelled. Eyes glued to the television. Appetite lost. It was, needless to say, a sickening situation that made me mourn for a city that is the epitome of all things chic and a beacon of light. Sadly, the whole world seemed dark.

Today, I feel it fitting to showcase one of my favorite Parisian apartments by Frederic Mechiche photographed by Jean-Francois Jaussaud in Elle Decor. It is a bold apartment, classic in taste and striking in its aesthetic. After all, that is exactly how Paris and the whole world should react against evil- bold and striking. Keep praying for Paris, for peace, and for a world that believes in loving one another above all.

Pack Rat

I am up to my ears in boxes, bubble wrap, and to do lists. Moving is a lot more work than I remember. I will be sporadically posting this week and next, but if you ever need any inspiration on a day I am away you can scroll through my instagram, my posts, or my pop-up shop. Honestly, I couldn’t imagine a better pick me up than Dana Mahnke’s blue and white chinoiserie ornaments or original porcelain antique plates. I have two lanterns left, and I am secretly hoping I get to keep them for myself, but I know how much joy they could bring to any of your beautiful homes.

So scroll back though Carolyne Roehm’s stunning house, or do a little early Christmas shopping. I’ll just be here with permanent marker on my finger tips and bubble wrap stuck to my foot. Pardon my dust….

Roehming Around

I have been glued to my computer these days. I definitely have that mix of dread and excitement when it comes to moving. I am constantly scouring the internet to make sure there isn’t the ideal fabric that I have missed, or that there isn’t a better light fixture to hang in that perfect place. I find myself in a constant monologue that goes something like…”well this a great fixture, but if I put it in the dining room… there will be too much brass if I decide I want those bookshelves… but then where will that painting go?…it would look really good above a console table…I love the marble top console table from Wisteria…but that will be too much If I get a marble top made for my dining table..but that is overly expensive so maybe I should go with soapstone for the top…do soapstone and marble mix?…that reminds me, I need to call about a handyman putting up the light fixtures”….etc. etc. etc.

This constant conversation with myself does not stop. As much as I seemingly complain about how busy and exhausting it is, I secretly love it. I love logistics. I always have, I probably always will. I love figuring out how I am going to get from point A to point Z, I thrive in that situation. It is not just a gift for practicality, but also so relevant in the world of design. How am I going to get a bland room into one that is enviable and enchanting? Let me work the logistics. In the process, I have spent a lot of time on One Kings Lane (more time than anyone should ever spend staring at a screen). They are featuring a Carolyne Roehm inspired sale which you can’t help but adore. She is the queen of blue and white and her taste is beyond chic. She has been a true inspiration for my end results. Take a look at just a few of the pictures of her stunning home here. For more, visit One Kings Lane.

Winging It

Before we get to the post, did you check out the pop-up shop? I launched it Friday afternoon!  Look at the tab under the logo, you will find SHOP on the right side, and on that page you will find a delightful collection of true blue and white porcelain pieces that have been uncovered at estate sales all over Asia in the past 20 years. I personally picked out these pieces in Asia (specifically the Philippines) this summer from a source that is truly remarkable and inspiring. I only have a little bit left, but it is a LOT of quality that will last forever. xxoo Hurry while it lasts!

Now to wingback chairs…

Wingback chairs. I can’t stop thinking about them. I feel they would be a perfect addition to my Restoration Hardware sofa (that I practically stole from a warehouse sale here in Dallas- well in some very small and deserted town outside of Dallas). I think wingback chairs bring a great significance to a room. They were first created as fireside chairs to hold the heat in from the sides and backs in order to keep the drafts out. On the other hand, they were also called “the grandfather chair” because that’s where as a child you sit on his knee for a story.

With all their history, they aren’t your typical side chair that blends in the corner. They are commanding, interesting, and beautifully designed. So go ahead, spread your wings.
