Some Things Trendy: Industrial Doors

I have to admit, I went back and forth on this post. I hesitate calling industrial doors and windows “trendy.” There are several houses with them around Dallas that I have admired for years. However, there is a recent  particular surge here of white painted brick houses with industrial doors and windows. Sounds pretty, right? Well, they are beautiful! My hesitation (you can sense it, right?) is that they are overwhelming in number. Nine out of every ten new houses embodies the same look. I even posted the question to my instagram followers. The majority love the look, yet several Dallasites were in agreement with me. My fear is that we will be driving around years later and pass these homes saying, “oh, that must have been built in 2018.” This is not to say they aren’t the perfect juxtaposition on a traditional home. My main piece of advice would be to proceed with caution.
I think the goal of every homeowner is to not date their home. I am doing this Some Things Trendy series to show you the trends for 2018 that I would actually use in a home. Think of it this way- there is a song by an artist that you love, yet the second it becomes overly popular on the radio it loses its appeal. This is often the case in home design as well. Take this simply as a precaution on trends, yet enjoy the beauty that is in these photos of industrial doors and windows below. They truly are chic, when they are perfectly applied.
P.S. I adore them the MOST when they are used in the interior.

So tell me friends, what are your thoughts?

Below are some more of my photos from around Dallas. They are ALL gorgeous. Landscaping makes the biggest difference. I’ll give you a little tour around town on instagram stories later today/tomorrow just to see how this “trend” is really catching on around town.
